For me, I tend to listen to any music without words, and music that I am not learning to play myself (e.g. video game soundtracks). Game and movie soundtracks are usually great for ‘background’ music, because most of the time, they are created to not take your attention away from what you’re doing/watching.
I find I’m a little different to most people around me. Alot of my colleagues listen to classical music or music with no words to help them concentrate whereas I need loud music, anything from afropop to 80s/90s classics. I find silence too distracting and I need to be dancing in my chair to get me to write and stay motivated and focused
If it’s light work then I love a bit of Taylor Swift while working but if I need to be able to focus a bit more then I’ve recently been using the Jurassic Park soundtrack which is a lot of fun to listen to!
I normally listen to anything upbeat that will put me into a good mood! Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of the 1975, Taylor Swift, and Paramore. However, if I’m really trying to get something done I’ll put on something less distracting, like lofi hip-hop!
Depending on how I feel that day, I either listen to piano instrumentals. Or, if I really need to get energetic and focussed on something, I have to listen to music that’s exciting and upbeat! In terms of specific songs I have a few that always make the cut (and no judging my taste in music!)
– The Chain: Fleetwood Mac
– Circus: Britney Spears
– Sweet but Psycho: Ava Max
– LUNA: ONEUS
– Easy: Stray Kids
– Wonderland: Ateez
