• Question: When assessing the children you work with is there anything specific you look out for?

      It depends on the referral, Louisa. However, in general, I firstly look out for the children’s strengths, i.e. what they can do. Far too often, children with special needs are seen through the lens of their conditions. Other things that I look out for are their cognitive abilities, social and communication skills, social, emotional and mental health, and independent living skills.
