For me, I find the hardest part is working out the analysis plan for my data – we need to know in advance what this is, before we run the study so we can be sure we are collecting the right kind of data to answer our questions.

Hi Phoebe. I find getting an ethics approval quite challenging. During my MSc, I did a research project to find out how effective expressive writing (journalling) is in promoting a more positive body image, to address eating disorders among female adolescents in the Philippines. First, I had to secure ethical approval from my own university and then I also had to secure ethics approval from the university in the Philippines. And then I also had to liaise with mental health charities.
Right now, for my PhD, my research will involve three countries (Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia). And again, I would be working with adolescents. So I can imagine myself going to the same challenges again.
The most enjoyable part is travelling to those countries! 😊
