For my PhD studies I’ve had to collect a lot of data, some of which I’m still analysing so I don’t really have any results to share at the moment unfortunately!
But for my masters project I ran a study that looked at how a drink called ‘Rosemary water’ can effect your cognitive performance and blood flow in your brain. We found that after having the drink participants performed better on some cognitive tasks and we also saw clear differences in the blood flow in their brain too. During my undergraduate and masters degrees I ran studies on energy drink components (like caffeine), dark chocolate and purple tomato juice and saw some similar findings in response to cognitive tasks.
Just like Ellen, I’m also on the very early stages of my research. At this point, I am reading lots of previous studies about resilience and digital mental health interventions. For my MSc, I did a research on expressive writing (asking adolescents to write about their traumatic events) and find out how it affects their body image. There were intriguing findings from my study such as it’s not going to work for certain populations.
