Hi! While I was doing my undergraduate degree I was thinking about projects to put forward for my master’s and ultimately, my PhD (as I wanted to make one continuous project rather than 1 x 1 year project, then a PhD of 3 years). It came down to the topics I thought were feasible over a 4 year period (master’s and PhD). I had several health psychology projects I had thought of (which in hindsight would be really interesting, especially considering COVID – health was my favourite undergrad module and I did my undergrad thesis in health psych). Ultimately the project I chose and applied for funding for for the PhD landed in social-cognitive psych though and I love it! Psych is so broad and with so much overlap I could definitely see myself dipping my toe back into health psychology in the future though! There is always wiggle room and there’s no reason anyone has to stay rooted in one field!
