I didn’t even know that this job existed 10 years ago, so no! But I don’t think I would have been surprised because it combines all of my interests very well: Psychology, helping people, travel, culture, feminism…
Not a single chance. At 16, I was a cleaner at a factory in Manila. I was also a street vendor selling rugs in the streets of Manila. But with the support and kindness of people, I somehow found my path to becoming a resilience researcher. That’s why I want to do the same: I want to empower adolescents in developing countries to they can become future scientists. That’s why for my PhD project, I will be working with adolescents in Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. I will talk to them about their ideas of resilience and together we will co-design a blog intervention.
No, ten years ago I had finished my psychology degree and I was working in an office in Ireland. It wasn’t until I was 26 and had tried a few different jobs that I thought I would go back and do my Masters and make sure I got the job of my dreams!
Not at all! in 2011, I was in Brazil, doing my Masters, applying for jobs as a psychologist, and involved with queer activism. I wouldn’t imagine that I’d studying and working in the UK!
