Question: why have you chosen to study a brain?

I study brains because I think they are fascinating.
They make up who we are, what we do and how we do it… and when they go wrong they can produce some very strange behaviour! Brains are incredibly good at what they do and we still haven’t managed to make a computer anywhere near as good as the brain. There are so many mysteries left to solve about the brains of humans and animals (including quite a lot that have been asked during the course of I’m a Scientist!) so it’s really exciting to be a part of a team that helping to find out about this amazing organ. Finally, I hope that any research I do into the brain will help towards eventually finding out how to cure people with memory problems, as this is really upsetting both for the people who have the diseases and their families.
