• Question: Why do penguins have knees?

      Like all birds (indeed, all four-legged land animals that lay eggs), penguins have knees. This reflects their common ancestry (with terrestrial egg-laying tetrapods). Presumably they still have knees because they haven’t been lost in an evolutionary adaptation.
