Not something I know anything about (in terms of the science) – but storing and retrieving information; visualising the world around us, and thinking must be close!

Think! Thinking is extremely powerful. It can change people’s lives. It can bring down governments. It can do a whole lot of good. It’s a fantastic capacity and we should cultivate and use it!

One of the coolest things is that the brain is very flexible, even for adults. We have the power to reorganize the brain by the things we practice! For example, if you tape two of your fingers together, your brain will stop separating the areas that control those two fingers. I think it’s amazing that the brain can relocate the things that it does – it’s like it tidies up!

This power is most useful for people who have jobs that rely on certain parts of the brain. Those who drive a taxi have increases in the part of the brain that deals with memory (the hippocampus). Also, babies who need to have an operation to remove half of their brain can still function, so that all language and motor control and everything moves to just the one half that is remaining; there is no loss! Amazing, no?
