      Another tough one!

The ‘west’ has a rather poor track record of making a mess of things by sending troops into conflict zones and, personally, my belief is that the only solution, in the end, is going to be a political one. I would be right behind the UN, if there was global agreement that the world shouldn’t just sit back and watch any longer, but we should resist the temptation of becoming involved without a UN mandate.

The tragedy, of course, is that we can see how Col Gaddafi is prepared to take more and more desperate measures to cling on for what can only be a very short time – but I still think that economic and political pressures should be exploited as far as they can.

My views on Libya are that I really found that I could easily remember their capital when learning countries. I always thought “tripolybia”.

But in terms of the problems they are having, I feel for all these countries in that area who are dealing with unemployment and poverty and feel that their governments are not doing enough.

I think it’s about time Gaddafi goes, but I’m also concerned with what comes after him. Transition to democracy is hardly ever smooth.
