There are different kinds of nerves or communication wires in the body that send messages. For example, there are nerves that tell your brain whether you are touching something hot or cold or something painful. In general, these communicate from the body to the brain. The brain has its own wires for communicating down to the body and these control what you body does. Now, there is an important exception that I should mention. When you touch something that will cause damage to your nerve endings (like you would lose your finger if you kept it in a hot fire), the signals don’t have to travel all the way to the brain for you to move your finger. The signals only travel to the spinal cord and your reflex to move your finger would be activated.

Through a complex interaction of nerves and hormones. The process is too complicated to explain here but can easily be found on line or in books.

Different elements of the brain control the movement, properties and behaviour of the body through a combination of electrical impulses and the release of chemicals..
