      In research my favorite type is one that works! When I was at school I always liked the reaction of potassium and water.

      During A Level chem I quite enjoyed qualitative testing, which involved identifying an unknown compound, so meant I could carry out a load of reactions in one session.

      I think addition of sodium hydroxide to copper (II) ions was quite nice – formation of a blue precipitate, which goes dark blue if you add ammonia to it.

      Reactions with transition metal compounds as the colour formations/changes are quite nice to watch
