I hope to be able to contribute (even if only a bit!) to the wider problem of understanding why products such as shampoos freeze when the weather is cold in the hope to prevent this so when you buy such items and live in a cold country, you aren’t disappointed because it doesn’t look or work how you want it to. To do this I want to at least develop the beginnings of a method to make this easier 🙂

I hope to contribute to the understanding and making of ‘smart’ materials to help grow large numbers of cells of one type that can be used in medicines.

I hope to be able to produce new polymers which will have different properties to those already available. I hope that these polymers will be able to go into lots of different products like glues, paints or even medicines and shampoo.

Produce lighter engineering materials for cars and aircraft to reduce fuel consumption and also CO2 emissions.

To demonstrate chemical reactions that are sped up by enzymes, which ar enormally found in biological systems. However in my case these enzymes are used to form thin film-like materials, which can be easily handled and placed in reaction media.

I can already produce films made out of one enzyme, but now the next goal is to make films containing up to three enzymes that work together to carry out more complex reactions.
