Hey Krystian,
This really does depend on the days and the results. Sometimes it feels like you’re getting nowhere and some days you even end up going backwards! Mostly, I do really enjoy it but it does take a lot of determination. Overall I’d have to say 9.
At the moment I’d doing paper work, so 1. Later on I’ll be breaking test specimens!, so 10. Like all jobs it’s a mixture of good and less good, but I like being a scientist because my average day (on a scale of 1 to 10) would be closer to 10 that it is to 5.
Back when I started my PhD Iif you had asked me this question three times during the day you’d probably have had a whole range of answers – purely because I got really excited when things worked and disappointed when they didn’t.
I’d say 9-10, purely because it’s a job where I get to create, be myself, and do things that I find exciting. I’m essentially self-employed and choose how to spend my research time – quite the privilege !
