Question: why do plants need water and soil to grow?

Good question lucy! Plants need water to drink, the same as us. They can’t survive without food and water. They need soil because that is how they get their water and food. The roots suck up the water that’s in the soil, and with it they take in the nutrients that are in the soil. They also use the soil to keep them standing up by gripping with their roots. When they stand up they can get more light from the sun which they also need to grow.
