      Hello Hans Hodges,

We need more young people coming through into artificial intelligence and robotics, including designing better social robots for human-robot interaction. I am a West London STEM Ambassador and regularly visit schools and colleges persuading young students to take science beyond school and to consider computer science as well.

I applied to take part in I’m a Scientist as another way to be able to interact and persuade school pupils that science is a broad field with many sub-areas, and to show that it would not be difficult to find one sub-topic of science you could get interested in. I also wanted to show that doing science is a varied and exciting job. It was also a great way to learn how much school pupils already knew about artificial intelligence – I’m really impressed with all the questions on robotics, you and others are quite knowledgeable already. Now I hope you’ll take this interest further and study computer science and specialise in AI and robotics at university.

      Huma

I love the idea of being able to help younger minds understand the importance of science, so that you can solve some of the toughest questions in the world in the future!
