• Question: Why are bumblebees so important to humans?

      That’s really great question!
      All bees are pollinators, which means that they help plants to reproduce but spreading pollen between flowers. Bumblebees are particularly important pollinators as they are better at this than other bees, and they pollinate some plants that cant be pollinated by anything else.
      When a plant is pollinated it can then produce fruit or vegetables and then seeds so that new baby plants can grow. For many plants, if they aren’t pollinated by bees this will not happen.
      So if we don’t have any bees, the plants will stop producing fruits and vegetables, and then there wont be any new baby plants to take over when their parents die.
      There is already a problem in the world because lots of people don’t have enough food, particularly in places like Africa. If we loose even more food because the bees arent there to pollinate the plants then we could all be hungry and maybe starve.
