Most of the bees in a colony are workers. They are the daughters of the Queen and it is their job to look after her, collect food and protect the colony. They are attracted to the queen because she is their mother and they want to protect her. Male bee are also attracted to the queen because they want to mate with her so that they are the father of the next colony.
This is true in both bumblebee and honeybee colonies.
