      Hi Ellie,

In the UK, typically you have to spend just over 3 years researching a particular area of science that no-one else has studied before, and at the end you have to produce a long (the length of a book!) study into what you were researching. Then a few people read the book, and decide whether or not you should become a Doctor, and give a ‘viva’ where the ask you questions on the specific things you wrote!
