      Hi redhead929

great question and you might be surprised by my answer because it’s quite a well known plant. The deadliest plant ever is the tobacco plant. Tobacco is used to make cigarettes and contains something called Nicotine. Nicotine is poisonous and addictive. Tobacco is responsible for 5 million deaths every year. I’m really glad that schools now teach children from a very early age how bad smoking is for your health.

I also found out about another deadly plant, and it looks really pretty (maybe you can look it up on google images) but although it’s pretty it’s also pretty dangerous! It’s called Oleander (latin name is Nerium oleander) and it contains 2 deadly poisons called oleandrin and neriine that affect your heart. If eaten it can cause diarrhea (I spelled it right yas!), vomiting, change how fast your heart beats, give you seizures, put you into a coma and then (sometimes) death. Its poison is so strong that people have actually become really ill even after eating honey made by bees that got pollen from its flowers.
The good thing though is that:
1-it tastes totally gross so most people spit it out as soon as it’s in their mouth so they don’t die
2- It doesn’t grow in the UK, it grows in the Mediterranean (phew-I can still eat honey!)

      Senga 🙂
