      Hi 982putk33

this is a great question and I actually found it quite tricky to answer in a way that makes sense so instead I had a quick look on the internet to see how other people explain it and I found this explanation:

“Computer code is a set of rules or instructions. It is made up of words and numbers and when you put them in the right order it will tell your computer what you want it to do. You can program lots of things with code, It could be a game, some pictures or a film.”

I also found this video which explains it very well.

Like Senga says, it’s a language that the computer can understand so that you can tell it what to do.

Computer codes can be very complicated. For instance the program that you use to see this website (called a ‘web browser’) uses millions of lines of computer code, written by many different people all over the world. That’s a lot of different instructions…

Making codes can be very fun. If you want to try it, a good place to start is to do some of the activities on this website: https://code.org/learn
