• Question: Is it hard being a scientist?

      Hi Katie

      That’s a really good question.

      Before I was a scientists I worked in a call centre complaints department, that was really hard work, I would get shouted at a lot by really angry customers and my job was to try and make them happy again which could be really difficult.

      I don’t find being a scientist hard, I find it really fun. There are times when you might have a big experiment running that takes up a lot of your time so you might need to work quite long hours for a few days but there are other days when you really don’t have much to do so you can take the day off or work from home and just catch up on reading about other peoples research.

      The hardest thing about being a scientist for me is when I really want to do an experiment just because I think it will be interesting but it wont actually help my research, that’s really tough because there are loads of things I REALLY want to know but have to do my proper research experiments instead….although I did put some dry ice in to fairy liquid last week and made lots of smoke bubbles…it was fun! (Don’t tell my boss!). I’ll post a photo on my profile for you to have a look at.
