I have no idea. Just whenever it’s rainy and sunny at the same time. Because when the sun passes through the water droplets the water droplets bend the sunlight causing it to split into the colours that sunlight is made up of: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

I would say the question is something a scientist or perhaps more specifically, a meteorologist (someone who studies the weather) might be able to answer!

I would also suggest that the level of curiosity you have for the world means that you may well already be a scientist!

I am not a meteorologist, but as a scientist, I could use my experience to make an estimate to answer your question. I have seen at least 3 rainbows this year. Let’s assume we are three-quarters through the year. Therefore, I would estimate I see an average of 4 rainbows per year!
