I have always been a scientist at heart 🙂 I did science A levels and then studied science at university, but then I worked for Government for about 7 years as a generalist (not directly applying science). Then I went back to Uni to retrain as a psychologist and then back to government to work for them as a scientist until I moved to work at Manchester University in 2018. The message is that not all science careers follow an obvious path!
PS My dad was a Chemistry lecturer – his mum (my Nan) said she knew he would be a scientist when he was three years old and stuck a piece of iron called a poker into their fire, and then stuck it in cushions to see what happened. His first experiment!!
