Some of the forensics stuff was quite interesting – how fires spread, how to match samples, DNA. The bit I enjoyed most is the non-chemistry bit, how the law works and how to do a police investigation. I almost joined the police after graduating before I decided to become a scientist full-time.
It’s funny though that I don’t actually use any forensics in my work. I’ve used a bit of analytical chemistry in old jobs, but the stuff that’s been most useful to me in life are the bits that I thought were boring and nothing to do with my degree.
