• Question: Is there often a lot of writing or written work??

      Yes, there can be quite a lot of writing. We have to write internal scientific reports so that we can report our results directly to our team. But many scientists also publish their results in scientific journals so that other scientists around the world can also read them

      It depends what sort of role you have.

      As a Professor (which is a manager) I do write a lot because it is up to me to communicate the results of our experiments to the world (or whoever is interested!) and also to write up costings and proposals to people who might fund our research.

      However this is not the same for everyone. I employ people who love doing practical science and they spend all day doing experiments, and their writing is basically recording their “recipes” and their results.
