Hmm interesting question. Plastics have definitely revolutionised the way we live our lives. There is nothing quite like them and they have helped us live healthier and more advanced lives. But their environmental problems from cradle to grave can be profound. I would like for this to be changed for as many plastics as possible without affecting their properties

We rely on plastics a lot in our everyday lives. For example currently hospitals couldn’t function without single use plastics. So I wouldn’t want to get rid of plastics. I think we should focus on reducing single use plastics where we can, and also on re-using, recycling and sorting plastics better. We will need to develop new technologies to do that though.

Funnily enough, the inventor of plastic bags thought he was saving trees by replacing paper bags with plastic!

I would rather we work with what we currently know, rather than ban plastic altogether. Think of all the things that just wouldn’t work without plastic! Doctors and nurses would have to completely change overalls between patient visits rather than the consumables they use now. We would likely have to greatly increase the amount of wood we currently use to replace the plastic we used. This could cause deforestation if not done sustainably.
