      Interesting! I remember doing some in school. And then lots in teaching labs at university as part of the course. The first research experiment I did (to make a novel material) would have been when I was 20 on a placement at an industrial company

      I remember having a chemistry set when I was younger, the sort where you have test tubes that would create different colours and froth up when you mixed them.

      In school I remember vividly the chemistry demonstrations where the teacher burned magnesium. I first did one of my own design when we went to a curling rink to do a physics experiment of throwing the stones down the ice.
