That they are the source of everything we need – food, fuel, building materials, medicine.. even the oxygen we need to survive on earth!

As well as all the reasons Liz gives, which I think are my scientific reasons for liking plants, I also love plants because they make up so much of our natural environment. Looking at green plants and spending time in nature is shown to reduce stress and improve wellbeing, and I love getting to know more about the processes that are happening inside each plant, invisible to the human eye!

      They seem soo magical !

There are soo many different types of plants, some are found in deserts, under the sea and even the high mountain peaks. Some plants are parasitic and thrive off of other plants, whilst some are carnivorous and eat bugs. They have nearly adapted to survive in most places.

They can make their own food using sunlight, which in turn provide humans (and animals) with food. We use them for furniture, fuel and the majority of our medicines originated from plants. Plus they provide Oxygen, so we can breath.

Without plants our lives would be very different and so I study them, so that we can use them more efficiently and so we can protect them
