      Yes, some plants can be extremely poisonous and you should always check something is safe before eating it, even if it looks nice. If you’ve been outside touching plants you should also wash your hands before eating anything as sometimes the sap from the leaves and stems can be harmful. But don’t worry, some of the nasty ones can be made harmless by cooking or preparing in the right way. And there are plenty of safe and delicious ones too!

      There are also plants that are poisonous to touch, you probably already know not to touch stinging nettles, these plants tend to have toxins which produce painful blisters and itchy rashes. Some of these plants include poison ivy, poison oak, giant hogweed, and Australian stinging tree.
