From my understanding a lot of Japanese cherry varieties were brought across in late 19th century and we have a lot of ornamental cherry trees which produce the beautiful blossom. Where I live we have a long street surrounded by these trees and it is beautiful in spring – I love driving down it during this time. Our climate as well as a lot of Europe is well suited to growing these trees. I don’t believe we have such a cluster of trees as found in Japan but there are certainly areas of the UK worth a visit with 100s of varieties.
