About Me:
I’m an engineer with a passion for ‘clean/ green technology’. I spend my free life playing in the great outdoors, and my work life supporting engineering solutions to conserve that outdoors for future generations by fighting climate change.

I live in Brighton with my wife and 2 boys (2.4y/ 5m). I love anything to do with exploring the outdoors, and I’m happiest on the top of a mountain or dunking in the sea. I also have a passion for music, particularly Jazz and R&B and like to unwind playing songs with friends.

My Work:
I work as an engineer for a company called Ceres. We make fuel cells and electrolysers, which are a renewable technology similar to batteries or solar panels, that we use to make green energy and green hydrogen respectively.

My Typical Day:
Breakfast -> dress and feed mischievous toddler -> mountain bike to nursery and then Brighton office -> spend day tackling engineering problems as part of our new product deployment project -> cycle home and play with toddler and/or baby, cook dinner, catch-up with partner -> toddler bed time -> tidy up house after toddler hurricane -> freedom! or sleep 😛

What I'd do with the prize money:
I’d buy some fuel cell demo kits – imagine a lego model that has a fuel cell inside! I’d use these to take to schools and show young people how fuel cells work, so they can become as excited as I am about them!

What I do to help Planet Earth:
- I followed a career in renewable energy to help stop humankinds reliance on polluting, toxic and limited fossil fuels.
- I eat mostly plants as they require less land, energy and water to produce.
- I try to buy second hand as much as I can, or even better to be content with what I already have…. doesn’t always work 🙂
- I work from home so I don’t need to commute to work
- I spend my free time doing activities that I hope are in harmony with nature, like running or riding my bike
