Scientific research is often about building on the work of others towards solving hard problems. This effort often takes place over many years. In my case, I am interested in providing robots the ability to learn and adapt to previously unseen situations; I am also interested in improving our understanding of how humans develop these abilities. This effort is thus the “biggest project” I have been working on!
I’m still working on it! At the moment I’m doing my PhD, which means I spend 3-4 years on my own research project. I’m looking at skull shape in ape species (humans, chimps, gorillas, orangutans, gibbons). So far I’ve collected data on nearly 900 skulls – and now I need to analyse it!
