I studied Environmental Science with a year in industry at the University of East Anglia. For my year in industry I monitored a volcano in Mexico, so not related to what I do now, but it gave me the chance to use geophysics (volcano seismicity) in the work place. No matter what you decide to do, if you get a chance to do a year in industry, or a work placement then I highly recommend it!
