That’s great that you are curious, it’s an interesting question! I can’t claim to be a Space expert but from what I have read it seems possible that with the right technology there could be a base on the Moon. NASA is looking at powering it with light from the Sun so they would need to look at this for deciding where to put the base on the Moon. They are also looking at using frozen water to support the astronauts there and also how elevation (so high up the base is) will affect the base and the exploring they do! Wouldn’t it be great if there was a Moon base? We would learn so much more about the Moon!
It won’t be easy, but I think it is doable. The hardest part about building in space is that the materials needed to build things are very heavy. Weight is the most expensive part of space travel so it costs A LOT to put on a rocket and send into space. As we build better rockets that price slowly comes down – SpaceX in particular makes the news a lot with their reusable rockets, which has the potential to slash launch costs once they prove their technology.

The other way to do this is to use building materials that are already in space. We could mine asteroids or even the moon itself to provide building materials. We could also dig into the surface of the moon and make a massive underground cave system. This would drastically reduce the amount of materials needed and make a moon base cheaper to build, which means it is more likely to happen!
