Earth quakes happen because the soil, the rocks, and all the things the Earth is made of move slightly over time. At some point rocks push against each other so hard that they break suddenly, and that makes an Earthquake.
Think about an elastic. If you slowly elongate it, nothing happens, it gets longer and longer smoothly. But at some point, if it’s stretched too much, then it breaks and shakes. That’s the same thing for and Earthquake.
