Not really, there is an idea that behaviour seems to ‘get worse’ during teenage years, but that’s probably because teenagers are often testing boundaries and sometimes get involved in risky behaviours (trying out drinking, drugs, shoplifting) – often these things don’t carry on for very long.

Behaviour problems can affect all age groups, I work with children as young as 4, and have worked with young offenders who were 16. Their behavioural problems are fairly different – not many 4 year olds end up in prison, but 4 year olds can still have the sort of problems that are really difficult for parents and teachers; shouting, kicking, throwing things and hurting themselves. We hope that by treating problems in young children, we can help them off the path of behaviour problems and improve their life chances.

ps. thanks for your questions – they’re interesting to answer.
