Barcodes. They are nearly everywhere and we hardly notice them. Pick a room at home and count all the barcoded things in it.
I’ve been running some projects to use them to help us look after patients more safely by sticking barcodes on patients, hospital staff, laboratory specimens and bags of blood that are used to treat patients. It’s going really well.

I think I’d have to go with computers – not sure what we’d do without them anymore!
