For me, the science you learn during GCSEs was far too basic and boring. I wanted to know why things happened, and not just remember a lot of facts that I didn’t really understand and didn’t really make sense. For example, electrons live in specific shells in the atom, but why do they do that? No-one would tell me at GCSE and that frustrated me, as to me the reason mattered more than knowing the fact.

Cut to A-Level, you begin to learn this sort of information. This is when I remembered why science is so interesting! Go even further into degree (and then PhD), it’s more important that you understand why things happen, then just what you can see happens.
