gosh. very philiosophical.
Well given that I don’t have an official answer book, I will dive into this one. On some level, evolution has lead to our brains operating the way that they do. So I guess initially it would just be positive feedback – so bodies releasing hormones that make you feel good if you act in a way that generally allows survival – so on a basic level I feel happy when I’ve had a good meal, or feel socially accepted. And that just evolves – so people who can problem solve would have been less likely to die, so humans learn how to think about problems, because the ones who don’t manage it die.
There you go – that’s my best shot. Hope its ok 🙂
Hmmmm, I once read something about the way that neurons (brain-cells) operate — they use chemicals to create and transmit electrical pulses a bit like batteries do. So on a mechanical level, it’s to do with our brain operating like a big organic computer. Beyond that, I’m afraid I know nothing!
As far as I know we “think” has result of the large number of connexions between all the neurons in our brain. That is the reason why Neural Networks are used to try simulate artificial Intelligence. Have enough nodes and you will have the equivalent of a brain.
BTW, since this is a physical property thinking is hard-wired in us and we are forced to do it.
