Not as much as I would like but I try to force myself not to work when I am at home. I like doing some sports, play piano, play board games and some computer games. As of late all my free time is fully dedicated to my 2 months old daughter.
I do a lot of cheerleading/dance training through the week and I go to the cinema on weekends or when I get chance. I am a youth worker as well so I work with lots of children, young people and families of an evening which I love doing 🙂 and if I have time in between I’ll play on my xbox for a few hours or watch a movie on Netflix
Yes I have space time. I think life is about balance so I don’t take my work home with me.
I love being outdoors, even in the winter, so I get out cycling, walking or running as often as possible – sometimes even in lunchtime at work. At home I have chickens and a cat which keep me entertained, and of course, there is the compulsory crashing out in front of the tv after a long day.
Spare time… spare time… I think I remember that? I’m part of a doctoral training centre here at Heriot-Watt, which means on top of my usual PhD work I have to do a lot of courses which usually come with much more work to do than I’d like — I’m going through a particularly busy patch at the moment!
Still though, I make time each week to go to the gym because when you’re job involves sitting at a desk for nine hours a day making time to go the gym is a good idea! When I get in in the evenings I like to play video and/or board games with my flatmates, as well as watching shows on Netflix, or reading books, or comics — I’m a big fan of British comics publisher 2000AD who publish Judge Dredd 😀
I’m also a music lover — I have a collection of bass guitars, and when I was an undergraduate at Heriot-Watt I worked as a sound engineer at the student union. I still go back every now and then to help set-up and run the open mic night!
