Depends on how expensive you want to make it! Mine cost me err… too much money when I built it in January! I reckon you can get as low as £450-£500 with some smart shopping.

My top tip is to find someone who’s built a PC before and get them to help you pick out the parts, and especially with the actual construction. If you’re particularly clumsy and/or have great big hands like me it can be a pretty terrifying process!

Another good tip is that you don’t necessarily need a graphics card right away as the built-in integrated GPUs on intel processors are actually pretty good =)

It depends how powerful you want it, and if you’re using it for gaming or music you will want a pretty decent graphics and/or sound card… I think you can build a computer for fairly cheap these days but it just depends what you are going to be using it for. I think Ollie’s advice is pretty good 🙂

It can be quite cheap or expensive, it really depend on the components you want in it. I once built my own pc and it was cheaper to buy single components than any comparable on the shelf alternative.

In general I suggest going your own way only if you need something very specific that you could not have by any retailer.
