Well medicine is all about statistics right? So any treatment is good that is more likely to have a positive outcome than not having the treatment. Even paracetamol has a list of possible side effect – its just that the low chance of the bad side effect occurring means it is worth the risk just to get rid of a headache.
So for some people, the negative effects of marijuana are worth the risk given the positive effects of dealing with the health issues they have.
So, yes. if the doctor says so, I’d go with it.

Yeah, as Vicky says – if the doctor prescribes it then yes the positive side effects must outweigh the negative ones. For example if someone is in a lot of pain from an incurable illness then I think it is perfectly fine to take medical marijuana. If medical marijuana works for people with chronic pain and there is nothing as good which alleviates the pain I would say it was a good idea for them to be prescribed it – I wouldn’t want anyone to suffer like that.

I will stand right next to my fellow scientists and say that if medicine say that marijuana can have a good effect in specific cases than I can only accept it.
Let me also make clear that this cannot be an excuse to abuse or play the system for a free joint! Only people with an illness should be allowed what is still an illegal drug.
