My A-level biology teacher and my undergraduate lecturers were amazing and so supportive! But also my mum who I probably don’t credit enough.

It can be a challenging career and you need a good support base! On-going this has been my friends who are also all scientists.

All of my teachers, both in secondary school and at uni. At uni the big person was the professor and PhD student in whose lab I worked to do my undergraduate thesis. They helped mentor me and allowed me to do my own research which has since been published in a larger paper.

From there I was then able to go on and get a job in science.

My family were always very supportive of my choices, even if it meant me being a student for some many years! And definitely some of my lecturers and advisers during uni played a big role in helping me realise I could stay in academia as a career

It was a mixture of great teachers and my grandfather. Neither of my parents were scientists, but my teachers and granfather (was was a scientist) supported me a lot.

I actually didn’t have anyone in my school or family who encouraged me to become a scientist, but my family was in general supportive of me going to Uni and my father always hoped his children would do engineering or life sciences so its close enough 🙂
