I am very active and I love to swim, run, cycle, hike, go camping. I just love the outdoors! I enter a lot of fell races in North Wales and the Lake District and I did an full Ironman distance Triathlon last summer. I regularly swim in the docks here in Liverpool. I cycle as much as possible although I do own a car – I try to use my bike as my main form of transport.

Staying active, definitely!! I hate sitting in the office for too long, but sometimes you need to when you are writing papers or studying the literature. So I like to go for 2x 45 minute walks a day, plus go to the gym at least 4 days a week. I also go for jogs in Phoenix Park on the weekends if the weather is nice.

I also play games on the nintendo switch. My favorite games are Mario Party, Animal Crossing, and Mario Odyssey !

If I just want to relax then Xbox or streaming shows with my girlfriend. I play football for an amateur team, so I get my exercise with training sessions and matches most weeks. I also have a nerdy soft-spot for Dungeons & Dragons, but have not been able to play it much since the pandemic started!

I like to go for long walks with my dog and the rest of the family. I also do a lot of work with young people including running a youth club twice a week. When I’m not doing any of that then I write books.

I climb, ride motorcycles and have been known to throw myself from tall things. I also host a podcast, though it feels like work more than a hobby, and enjoy going out for food. I also love a good festival and some comedy. When I was living in Sheffield I would go on hikes a lot but now in London I visit museums, galleries and theatre more.

I like to spend time with my partner and my dog! My partner is a filmmaker so sometimes I have a go at doing that with them!
I like to go for runs and big walks. When the world isn’t so restricted, I like to go and watch live music and have drinks with my mates! Liverpool is a very cultured city so there is always lots of art and music to enjoy!

The biggest thing I like to do outside of work is creative writing. I love stories and ever since I was a teenager, I’ve been writing them as well. Mostly in the sci-fi/fantasy/crime areas, but I would follow an idea anywhere it can take me.

Beyond that I love to read, listen to music and do crafts like cross-stitch.

I am going to guess most people will say how much they love sports.. I won’t 😉
I only exercise if I really have to..
I prefer reading books, spending time with friends (whenever Covid rules allow for that), I draw and paint a little …and to be honest, I probably spend way too much time watching silly things on YouTube

I have a range of hobbies so it really depends on what I feel like doing. I love travelling and walking so those are things I try to do the most. But sometimes I just feel like relaxing and watching TV, especially after a long day at work.

I like any sort of art and craft (sewing, drawing, anything I can get my hands on really!) and outdoors activities. I usually go rock climbing once a week with my friends, and when I get the time I love to go hiking with my partner.
I’m also quite a classic nerd and I like to play games like Dungeons and Dragons with my friends – it’s a lot of fun to do something creative and sociable and get a bit of escapism in!
