I have now worked in science for 15 years, but I would probably add on my uni years to that as I did some research in a lab there as part of my thesis.

      Hi Courtney,
That’s actually a fun question because for a long time I didn’t know if I was ‘allowed’ to call myself a scientist. Like when I was a PhD student I was doing science but especially at the beginning I wouldn’t call myself a scientist because I thought ‘oh I’m just a student and don’t know anything and I can’t claim to be a scientist’.
I still have that feeling when nothing works but I would say I have been calling myself a scientist more confidently for 3/4 years now.. but I started my PhD in 2015 so quite a while before that 😉
