This question is a brain-scratcher! ðŸ§
I think since viruses are not living, but they contain genetic elements, they must have descended from some broken-off pieces of genetic material that was being transferred between cells (maybe bacteria or parasites) long long ago in Earth’s history.
*But* if your question pertains to how do viruses replicate and make more of each other, then that is widely known. It is through a process called viral replication, where the virus penetrates the cell, uncoats its genetic load, uses its own proteins + the host proteins to make new copies of itself, then releases itself from the cell (this can sometimes cause the cell to rupture and die).
