You can make diamond artificially by heating and compressing carbon. The tricky thing is making one diamond crystal big enough. I think current manufacturing techniques can make diamonds millimeters big, not 2 feet long.
Diamond is very hard, but actually not that tough. It is twice as touch as concrete, but ten times less tough than aluminum. Diamond sheet would shatter if hit with a hammer so wouldn’t make good Armour.
…as for the cost, the worlds biggest diamond (10cm long) is estimated to cost between £200 million and £400 million, So a suit and sword would cost a lot of money!
