Question: how do you think the business of cosmetic surgery prospered? Are people more willing to go under the knife? Don't you think that the money put into cosmetic surgery could actually go towards a more helpful cause such as global warming and distributing wealth equally and isn't this a very unfair decision to make to perform this type of surgery?

  I guess demand and money have driven the industry. Lots of science progress is based on how much money is put into it. Even if it does seem selfish, it has helped people who may have to have prosthetics put in, such as a breast cancer patient.

  It is a potential problem, especially in some places in america where it has rapidly become the norm.
  
  There is a vicious cycle you see, an individual can look at his/her peers and feel ugly, and go for surgery and become prettier. If enough people do this then suddenly perfectly normal looking people start to feel inadequate and go for surgery, to compete. Louis Theroux did a documentary on this for the BBC and it is quite enlightening.
  
  I wear a small prosthetic because of an accident I had, which I think is where cosmetic surgery can help people. Doing it to have the biggest breasts or false biceps implanted is just silly though!
