• Question: why do female hyena's have penises where as males don't?

      Batman this is a good question – here goes. Feel free to prove me wrong – but a common feature of all mammals is that fertilisation of the egg to make an embryo occurs within the female. When a baby is developing inside the womb – all the genitalia look very similar, until late in development when they start to look more like male and female organs. Female hyenas just have genitalia that ‘sticks out a bit’ (a pseudo-penis = pseudo=false). So it’s not really a penis, fertilisation still happens within the female. I think male hyenas do have penises though don’t they? Good question!
